Designing for Digital: What print-book designers should know about ebooks

Si bien son definiciones básicas, el contenido está prolijamente sistematizado y les sirve a ellos para explicar a sus clientes cuáles son los alcances hoy, más o menos, de lo que se puede hacer (con formatos ePub sobre todo), y a nosotros, para aprender, ni más ni menos; por otro lado, acá no diríamos "diseñando", porque son cuestiones de armado, pero está para aprovechar, eh.

This is a course designed by Electric Book Works for book designers, typesetters and production managers (though it’s useful for anyone working in books). It’s in three parts:

1. Context: A general understanding of the digital publishing industry and where epub fits in, and a basic understanding of why and how your files will be converted to ebook formats.

2. Important background: A basic understanding of ebook formats and formatting, including the ability to recognise and interpret HTML, XML and CSS.

3. Practical skills: How to prepare conventional text files (e.g. Word, InDesign) for good, reliable ebook conversion. (This is the practical focus of the course.)
